Just prior to dispatch, the caller was advised by the home owner that it was a controlled burn. CH58 (Boyer) who was already on the street continued in to make sure everything was under control.

CH58 arrived to find a 2 Story Farmhouse with a active chimney fire and started the First Alarm Assignment. The Engine Company with 3 personnel arrived, stretched a line and started investigating to insure the fire was contained to the chimney. Crews from Companies 59 and 61 arrived and assisted on all floors with checking for extension as well as going to the roof. The remainder of the First Alarm arrived and assisted with various tasks. Crews brought the fire under control, confirmed the fire didn’t extend into the home and cleared within 90 minutes.

As a reminder, just because you think you can mitigate an incident, doesn’t mean you can or you should. Please give the crews room and let them work to control the situation. There is no need for a second incident to occur while attempting to help without the proper equipment.
